U.S. President Donald Trump raised the possibility of making Venezuela the 51st state of the United States during a speech in Corpus Christi, Texas, on Tuesday.

"Let's make it the 51st state. And instead of a president, we'll have an election for a governor. How about that?" Trump told his supporters.

During his speech, the president highlighted what he described as the excellent relationship between Washington and Caracas. He also claimed that major oil companies are investing billions of dollars in Venezuela, creating new jobs and economic opportunities.

Trump emphasized that the United States is receiving significant amounts of Venezuelan oil and expressed confidence that the South American nation could become more economically prosperous.

His remarks, delivered in a lighthearted tone, once again raised the idea of Venezuela becoming part of the United States. However, Trump did not announce any official plan or specific steps to make such a change happen.

The statement brings renewed international attention to Venezuela, particularly because of its vast oil reserves and its evolving political and economic relationship with the United States.
