MIAMI — A 24-year-old man was arrested this week after allegedly burglarizing the same Miami-Dade residence multiple times and stealing nearly $14,000 worth of property, according to the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities say Alejandro Orozco was first discovered Saturday afternoon inside a residence located in the 1800 block of Southwest 73rd Court Road. According to an arrest affidavit, the homeowner returned to find Orozco asleep on the couch while allegedly holding the resident’s firearm.
Investigators say the homeowner attempted to take the weapon from Orozco, leading to a physical struggle inside the home before the suspect fled the scene.
The affidavit states that Orozco later returned Sunday by climbing through a rear window, allegedly stealing shoes, clothing, jewelry, a wallet, ammunition, and an electric bicycle. The stolen property was estimated at approximately $13,900.
Surveillance footage inside the residence reportedly captured Orozco returning again early Tuesday morning. Detectives believe the suspect noticed security cameras and left the home without taking additional items.
Deputies later located and arrested Orozco near Southwest 74th Avenue and 22nd Street. Authorities say he was found in possession of some of the victim’s stolen belongings.
According to investigators, Orozco admitted to entering the residence three separate times and acknowledged possessing the victim’s firearm.
He is currently being held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center and has pleaded not guilty to charges including armed burglary, burglary of an occupied structure, and third-degree grand theft.
The Miami-Dade Public Defender’s Office, which is representing Orozco, declined to comment on the case.

Las autoridades identificaron al sospechoso como Alejandro Orozco, quien fue descubierto el sábado por la tarde dentro de una residencia ubicada en la cuadra 1800 de Southwest 73rd Court Road. Según el informe de arresto, el propietario regresó a su casa y encontró a Orozco dormido en el sofá mientras sostenía un arma de fuego perteneciente al residente.
El affidavit señala que el dueño de la vivienda intentó quitarle el arma, lo que provocó un forcejeo dentro de la propiedad antes de que el sospechoso huyera del lugar.
Los investigadores aseguran que Orozco regresó nuevamente el domingo, ingresando por una ventana trasera, y presuntamente robó zapatos, ropa, joyas, una billetera, municiones y una bicicleta eléctrica. El valor total de los objetos sustraídos fue estimado en aproximadamente US$13,900.
Las cámaras de seguridad instaladas dentro de la vivienda captaron al sospechoso regresando otra vez en horas de la madrugada del martes. Sin embargo, las autoridades creen que Orozco notó la presencia de las cámaras y abandonó la propiedad sin llevarse nuevos objetos.
Posteriormente, agentes del sheriff lograron ubicar y arrestar a Orozco cerca de Southwest 74th Avenue y 22nd Street. Según la policía, el sospechoso tenía en su poder parte de los artículos robados.
De acuerdo con los investigadores, Orozco admitió haber ingresado a la residencia en tres ocasiones distintas y reconoció haber tenido en su posesión el arma de fuego de la víctima.
Actualmente permanece detenido en el Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center y se declaró no culpable de cargos que incluyen robo armado, allanamiento de una estructura ocupada y hurto mayor en tercer grado.
La Miami-Dade Public Defender’s Office, entidad encargada de su defensa, indicó que “no hará comentarios por el momento”.
