Hollywood Police are asking the community for assistance in identifying a person of interest linked to an investigation into vehicle burglaries in Hollywood Beach.
According to a statement released Monday, the incidents took place on September 5, shortly after midnight, in the area of Thomas Street and the Broadwalk.
Police reported that officers responded to the scene after receiving reports regarding two vehicles that had been illegally entered. Detectives released surveillance footage showing a person walking through the area and are seeking to identify them.
Authorities did not specify what items, if any, were stolen from the vehicles or how entry was gained.
The case comes as Broward authorities continue to issue warnings about this type of crime.
In July, the County Sheriff's Office reported on investigations involving groups that roamed apartment complex parking lots and residential driveways during the early morning hours, looking for unlocked vehicles. Detectives noted that many of these incidents occurred between 2 a.m. and 5 a.m.
